1. Park Hyatt Auckland

Hyatt makes its New Zealand debut with its upscale Park Hyatt brand perfectly positioned on Auckland’s waterfront. The view across Wynyard Quarter’s Lighter Basin and out to the Waitematā Harbour are worth writing home about, as are the extensive facilities: not only does it have 195 guestrooms, but there are a whopping four restaurants and bars, a day spa, a 25-metre infinity pool, and a full fitness centre.

2. The Hotel Britomart

The Hotel Britomart does detail like no-one else – just take a look at the handmade brick exterior and beautiful timber-panelled rooms for evidence. It’s also smack-bang in the middle of an exciting nine-block precinct of plant-lined streets, historic warehouses and some of the city’s best shopping and eating spots. The Hotel Britomart is also set to be certified by the New Zealand Green Building Council as the country’s first five ‘green’ star hotel, part of a precinct-wide commitment to sustainability 🌿

Open date: October 1, 2020

3. Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour

Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour will reopen after an extensive refurbishment in spring. As part of the makeover, updates are being made almost every corner, including the lobby, reception, bar, café, restaurant and the Sofitel Spa. What can we expect? The addition of the Sofitel’s Club Millésime for one – it’s an exclusive lounge retreat which comes with extra privileges, services and amenities (other city editions of Club Millésime have included 5-star butler service, for example). Fancy!

Reopen date: October 8, 2020

4. Travelodge Auckland Wynyard Quarter

Travelodge Hotel Wynyard Quarter Auckland is in the heart of all the action in the fast-developing Wynyard Quarter precinct, close to the Waitemata Harbour at the western edge of the Auckland waterfront. It’s a hotel that ticks all the boxes (free WiFi, central location, plush rooms), complete with a down-to-earth vibe and a sense of humour.

Open date: October 28, 2020

5. QT Auckland

Although this is the third QT hotel in New Zealand, QT Auckland property does make a distinctive addition to the much-loved Wellington and Queenstown hotels, with the same bucket load of character. Designed with the natural, wild beauty of the city’s surrounding landscape in mind, it’s no exception to the QT brand. Beyond the luxurious rooms though, there’s a signature restaurant by Sean Connolly on-site, as well as a rooftop bar with Viaduct views, and plenty of local art hanging quietly on many a hallway wall.
